This leaves a lot of great games on the handheld that many players may have difficulty getting once the eShop is fully closed down. Over those 10 years, the 3DS has gotten some great games on it, with some especially strong exclusives to boot. The news comes just months after the Nintendo 3DS celebrated its 10 year birthday. Many Nintendo 3DS players have voiced their disappointment with the possibility of the handheld's eShop getting shut down, especially as physical games for the 3DS have gotten increasingly difficult to come by in many cases. With Nintendo also shutting down those eShops in Latin American countries last year, it seems that their permanent closure is just over the horizon. It was recently announced that Nintendo would no longer be accepting credit card purchases on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS eShop in Japan starting early next year.
